Dan F. Long Band
Supplies: Band is a performance-based class, where the kids are required to play, in-class every day. Students are expected to have their instrument, binder, and any reeds or valve oil they may need in every class. At the beginning of the year, students are given a Band Binder and have the option to rent an instrument from a local music store, or the School (depending on the instrument needed and what we have available.) Don't know what to buy? The directors have a list of quality instruments to rent that is given out to music stores, so they can help you pick out the proper instrument.
Practicing: Playing an instrument is a skill that requires routine practice. The students who play more, sound better! Just 15-30 minutes a day of practice will help your child succeed in band, and those who practice more than 30 minutes a day are our very best students.
Attendance: Students are expected to be on-time, and ready to go 2 minutes after the bell to all in class or outside of school rehearsals. Your student can't learn if they aren't there!
